Bev’s Hills – Week 7

Hey! Another Monday, another Bev’s Hills. There’s lots going on so listen carefully.

Firstly, have you considered running? Watch our promotional video below for some inspiration and consider taking the leap.

If you do want to nominate yourself for a position on the JCR then you can do that from TODAY at 10am and you must do it before Friday 4pm. Just head over to nominations.lusu.co.uk. There will be a candidates meeting where everything regarding campaigning and so on will be explained to you, so don’t worry if you’re feeling a little lost!

Hustings is taking place on Tuesday 25th November at 6pm in Biology Lecture Theatre. The Facebook event is here. This is where all candidates give a little speech in front of the whole college and answer questions. Even if you’re not running, definitely come down. It’s always a great laugh and most people are pretty smashed by the end of it. BYOB.

Voting takes place in Week 8, Wednesday 10am – Friday 4pm. You’ll receive an email with your voter code! In the last few years Furness has consistently had the highest voter turn out, so let’s keep that up (or Frankie might kill us)!

Lancaster Award Event

Fylde and Furness College are teaming up to provide a variety of workshops in the coming weeks one of which is a workshop to tell you everything about The Lancaster Award! Any questions, come on down to our Q&A Evening. Also… free pizza! It’s on 25th November at 5:30pm in the Fylde Common Room.

Time to Talk

Big thanks to everyone who came down to our Time to Talk event last week where we, as a college, signed the pledge along with many university societies. Check out the photos on Facebook! And also a special thank you for a wonderful performance from LU Theatre Group.

Carter Shield

Whilst we’re on the topic of thanks… another big thank you to everyone that came down to Zorb Football in the Carter Shield yesterday. It was amazing fun and we came in 4th place out of all the colleges. The next Carter Shield event is Ultimate Frisbee in Week 9, more info soon!

Battle of the Colleges

MORE THANKS. To everyone who represented Furness in Battle of the Colleges yesterday! Right, that’s all the thanks done now. Promise.

Sports Results

Furness won the Women’s Darts this week vs. Fylde, 4-3. Netball A’s lost 34-17 to Grizedale. Football A’s lost 3-1 vs. Bowland and the Football B’s lost 3-2 to Graduate.

That’s All

Anyway, I’ll leave you with this thought. Life is all about perspective. The sinking of the Titanic was a miracle to the lobsters in the ship’s kitchen.

As always, much love, Ollie xx
