Bev’s Hills – Week 8

What did one ocean say to the other ocean? Nothing. They just waved.

Hello Furness! So by now you’ll have remembered that it’s better to just avoid Facebook for campaigning week.

Hustings

Don’t forget, Hustings is tomorrow! If you’re a first year and you’re a bit unsure about what this is… it’s unmissable! All the candidates running for a position on the next JCR exec will be giving speeches and answering questions. Bring food and drink!

Voting

Voting opens on Wednesday at 10am and closes on Friday this week at 4pm. You’ll receive an email with your voter code and instructions of how to do so. We’ve got an extra special video coming out this Wednesday reminding you to vote, so keep your eyes peeled. Furness has had the best voter turnout for the last few years and Frankie really wants to keep it that way so make sure you have your say! Democracy, yey!

Winter Ball

We’re super excited for the Winter Ball! Many of you have paid the £10 deposit but still need to pay the other £15 before the event. Please keep an eye on the Facebook event for more info about when this is payable.

Mind Your Own Business

Ever thought about setting up your own business at university but don’t really have anywhere to do it? Here in Furness we have this fantastic competition where you can win an office for a term within the college buildings. This is a great opportunity for any budding entrepreneurs. Head over to the Facebook page for all the information about how to apply. The deadline is Sunday next week!

LUSU General Meeting

LUSU are having a General Meeting this Thursday at 8pm in Faraday Lecture Theatre. Join the Facebook event for all the latest info. It’s worth popping along to if you want to have your voice heard and be kept up to date on everything that’s going on with the Union and what they’re actually doing.

Furness Beer and Cider Festival

Next weekend (Thur 4th – Sun 7th December) the annual Furness Beer and Cider Festival is returning! All events across the weekend are free of charge, except the Comedy Night on the Thursday, where we ask for a £2 donation as tickets are limited. There’s lots of great stuff going on, check out last week’s Bev’s Hills for the full running order, Facebook event coming soon.

Jam-in-Furness

This Friday is Paul Palmer and his musicians are returning for Jam-in-Furness! Starting at 8.00pm in Furness JCR we hope you will kick start your weekend by joining us for this free event.  If you play and instrument or sing, then we hope you will consider joining in with the fun.  If not, come along and enjoy the music.  If you wish to join in the Jam session, and have a particular piece of music you would like to play, please send this to me in advance so that I can pass these to Paul to create a play list.

That’s All

Aaaaaand that’s a wrap! Hope to see you all at Hustings tomorrow, I haven’t been this excited for something since the 15 Hour Bar Crawl!

As always, much love, Ollie xxx
