Bev’s Hills – Week 13

Hey folks!
Hope you all had a smashing weekend – Furness certainly did, what with winning the first Carter Shield event of the term, wheelchair basketball!

First point of call: Trev’s Arcade!
As many of you have seen on Facebook, we’ve got a brand new social happening THIS Friday!
Think of all those games you may have indulged in as a kid – you know, SonicMario, Tetris – and remember Freddos and Chuppa-Chups?
There’ll be a leadership board, too, so not only can you show off your own mad gaming skills, but you can see how you measure up in comparison to your fellow Furnessians…
We’ll be venturing back in time with this uber-funky retro games night, so if you think you’re the JUSTDANCE master, or PACMAN king? Make sure you’re in Trev this Friday from 7:30, it’s going to be amazing.

… Your reaction when you realise what an awesome, packed welfare week we have coming!

This will include FREE (yeah, I said ‘free’) fruit and veg, yoga classes, CV and basic skills workshops – and, of course, we’ll be working to raise awareness for mental health awareness.
This week will run from February 2nd-6th.

Another event you may have seen… OUR FIRST GENERAL MEETING OF THE TERM (and the first under the new JCR).

If you’re as passionate as the rest of us when it comes to Trev, this is a must. We need to reach the quorum in order to actually pass the motion of saving our magnificent college bar, so we need as many people as possible to come support us and this cause on Thursday at 6pm in Furness Lecture Theatre One.

Why is there another Disney Gif, Heather? Well, that would be a reminder to keep your Valentine’s weekend as free as you can – this is going to be the date of our 15 HOUR BAR CRAWL!
How exciting, I know!

BATTLE OF THE COLLEGES IS COMING

Battle of the Colleges is taking place on the 22nd of February and we need at least one team of 6 Furnessians to take part.
It is an enterprise event which is open to everyone and is a cross between Dragon’s Den and the The Apprentice. There is a FREE lunch for everyone who takes part and it is a great opportunity for you to enhance your CV and improve presentation skills!
If you want more information then speak to Eilidh the Education and Opportunities Officer (who you can see above in her cameo appearance in Game of Furness, if you remember?).

You see this little leaderboard just above? We’re third. We were FIRST (or Furst, ha.) earlier on in the week… You’ll find the email in your university inbox – please, please, please fill it out, we want our party in Trev!

And that’s all from me this week, and I’ll end on this note:
What do you call a fake noodle? AN IMPASTA!

Heather xxx
