It’s time for week 2! How are we all? Surviving? Maybe don’t do what I did and get hooked on Brooklyn Nine-nine right in the middle of your deadlines/ revision. Let’s see what we’ve got going on this week.

ROSES!!!

You might want to put revision to one side this weekend because it’s time to prove that ROSES are definitely RED! After several wins in the Men’s running and rowing, Lancaster are in the lead 15-9! Well done you guys! The equestrian event will be on Wednesday, and the rest will go down on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Good luck to everyone competing, the whole uni is behind you! Check out the Roses timetable here

If you are interested in doing your own bit for Roses, the uni is currently looking for stewards to ensure that the weekend runs smoothly. You would be responsible for helping guests with any queries, offering directions and taking questions and problems to the relevant supervisor. National Student Money

This week in Lancaster is the National Student Money week. Head down the Alex Square on Thursday, from 10am to 4pm to meet the members of the Fees and Funding team to get some money-saving tips and ask your questions! And if that wasn’t enough, don’t miss out not he chance to win a trolley full of shopping or even a Kindle Fire!

Mind Fest

 

Mind Fest is back and better than ever! Come down to Alex Square and the Chaplaincy centre from 10am to 4pm on Tuesday to get involved in inflatable fun, sports, meditation, free food and so much more!

Don’t forget our weekly quiz on Wednesday at 7:30pm. You’re going to want to bring a history fanatic for this week’s specialist topic: 20th Century Russian History! As always, £1 a head to play.

Fashion Recruitment Fair

This event is not only for fashion, but for those of you interested in marketing, sales, social media, communications, and design! Coffee Morning 

Take a break from coursework and revision and come to our welcome back coffee morning, hosted by your welfare team – Friday 11am-2pm. You can’t say no to some free breakfast!

Assistant Deans

Are you moving on to be a post grad and need some extra pennies? Furness are looking for Assistant Deans for the academic year 2018/19. You will be working 11.5 hours per week on an 11 months fixed term contract – Sept-July (NB: for Tier 4 international students these 11.5 hours contributes to the 20 hours of work permitted whilst in the UK) and working on grade 3 rate of pay (£16654-£18263) pro rate plus annual leave. For a job description and application information please email your contact details to [email protected]. The deadline for applications is noon on 21st May 2018 and interviews will take place week commencing 11th June 2018.

Happy term three, Furness! Sorry for the slightly late one, a certain dissertation took over my entire brain capacity for a while, but we’re back! I hope you all had a relaxing Easter break, though I know some of you will have been hibernating in the library for the past few weeks and probably had no idea a break was even on the cards – hang on in there, you’ve got this!

Trev Quiz

It’s back! We know you missed it over the past four weeks but our beloved weekly quiz is back and this week’s theme is… GRIME!

Head down for some fun and a well-deserved break from revision and coursework! As always it is just £1 a head to play – see you there! We’ve missed you!

Roses

This time of the year might be overshadowed with revision but don’t be fooled, it is also one of the best times of the Lancaster year, because next week, on 4^th May, Roses kicks off! A weekend full of our best athletes competing against York in a battle to prove that roses are most definitely red! You can buy a roses supporter pack (including this year’s Roses shirt) through Student’s Union! And you can find out all the information you need for the entire weekend on this website!

Jam-in Furness

We’ll be jamming the night away on Friday 18^th May in Trev for a Jam-in-Furness night from 8pm! Anyone can attend this event for free and if you would like to join in, singing or playing an instrument we would love to have you perform! If you are interested please contact Paul at and if you’d prefer to sit back and enjoy some live music then Trev is open for all! Come have a little boogie with us!

Richard Slatter Memorial Pool Competition

It’s soon time for the annual Richard Slatter Memorial Pool Competition which will take place in the JCR Room on Saturday 19^th May at 12pm. Sign-ups will begin soon so be sure to keep an eye out for details on that!

We know this time of year is full of work and stress but please remember to take some time out to relax and take care of yourselves!
