Lancaster Award Drop-in 

For anyone working towards the Lancaster Award submissions deadline, please come along to a drop in on Wednesday 1st May, 12:00-2:00pm in the Furness TV Room.

Colleges Charity Challenge Showcase – Furness team 

Now that Team Furness have completed their Challenge, there will be a celebration showcase event where all teams will share highlights of their experiences and lessons learnt.  Everyone who have been involved will receive a certificate from Professor Mandy Chetwynd and representatives from the Charities supported will be invited.  Please come along and join in the recognition of our team’s efforts.

Venue: Management School Lecture Theatre 2/3 and breakout space


Richard Slatter Memorial Pool Competition
Saturday 18th May 2019 at 12 noon in the Furness JCR

Please come and join us for the Richard Slatter Memorial Pool Competition.  The event will start at 12:00noon, with sign-ups taking place on the day.    Everyone welcome.


What? – Trev Quiz
When? – Wednesdays, Term Time 7:30pm
Where?– Trev Bar

Every Wednesday during term time we hold a quiz night in our bar Trev. Everyone is welcome to play for £1 per person, with the money raised being split for the prize so come and head down with your friends for a midweek break.



Begin the new term with a brew! Tea and Chat sessions are continuing this term, 12-1pm on Wednesdays in Bowland Bar. Relax, connect with other students and enjoy a free hot or soft drink. The Transitions Team host the weekly sessions to encourage all students to take a break and look after their own wellbeing.  Make time for tea and meet some new people!


Start the New Year on the right foot … Take a mid-week break from your studies and enjoy some fresh air. Join the Transitions Team on a relaxed 30 minute walk along the campus woodland trail. We meet in Alexandra Square, outside The Base, at 3pm on Wednesdays during term time. It’s free and no sportswear is needed.

Nick Lewis Memorial Football Match
Saturday 16th March 2019 at 1pm

Please come and join us for the Nick Lewis Memorial Football Match.  The football match starts at 1:00pm and there will be a presentation in the Furness TV Room from 3:00-4:00pm.   Everyone welcome.

Colleges Charity Challenge – Furness team and next steps

Join in the Colleges Charity Challenge 2019 to support a worthy cause and boost your CV. The challenge launch event is on Thursday 17th January, at which support – and pizza! – will be given to teams. The event is open to students already part of college teams after the Charity Challenge 5th December Info Session and also anyone who couldn’t attend that event but would like to join a college team now. There will be a short presentation of key information and time to ask questions of staff supporting the challenge as you progress your ideas as a team.

Join the College Sustainability Challenge – £750 for the winning team!

• A chance to help Lancaster University become more environmentally sustainable
• An opportunity to win £750 1st prize, £250 2nd prize
• An experience that will give you new skills and impress future employers

Furness College has been invited to put forward a team to compete in fourth annual College Sustainability Challenge. In a team, you will be presented with the various challenges the university faces concerning environmental sustainability and asked to come up with innovative ideas and solutions. As a team, you will need to collaborate and access the expertise of the network of academics and professional staff and students across the University in order to develop your idea.

The competition will climax in Week 19 when ideas will be pitched to a panel of experts. The winning team will be awarded £750 with the runner-up receiving £250.

Lucky Ducky!   Alexandra Square – Thursday 11th October 11:00 – 15:00

Come and say hello to your College Wellbeing Officers. There will be prizes, sweets, free hot drinks, wellbeing tips and information about the Counselling and Mental Health Service and support in your colleges. With our own version of the ‘hook-a-duck’ game, take a Lancaster Duck home with you and take a snap of it in its new pad!

If you win a Lancaster Duck in our fun game, take a picture of your new flatmate it in its new home and use the #luckyducky for your chance to win a £20 Amazon Voucher!

Welcome to the Lancaster Intercollegiate Debate 2018!

The first of the Nine College Challenges begins with the Debating challenge.

The competition takes the format of three speakers and three researchers in each team. The speakers must be first years but the researchers can be anyone who wishes take part.
If you are interested in joining the team for Furness then email the College Manager, Jo Dickinson to register your interest (jo.dickinson@lancaster.ac.uk).

Please go along to the introductory event on Monday, 29th October at 7.00pm in Bowland North Seminar Room 6.

This first event will be a briefing about the style of the tournament, the rules and format of the debates and of course a chance for you to ask questions.

Furness Extrav Presents… Lost College!
On the 28TH JUNE 2018 we will be transforming Furness into the wilderness as we bring to you our very own version of the Lost Village festival – Lost College! Prepared to get lost and watch out for the weird and wonderful behind every tree!
Go wild with the costumes, we can’t wait to see you party the night away in the forest!
We promise you the best night filled with amazing music, including an incredible line up we know you will LOVE and decorations that will make Furness unrecognisable as we celebrate the end of this year together!
