The transitions team are recruiting Transitions E-Buddies to support applicants to prepare for university life and settle into Lancaster University. You will facilitate a small group of incoming students who you will support over email before they arrive at Lancaster University (August – October 2019). You will assist students with practical queries and be empathic to student concerns. You will be trained in e-communications, boundaries and confidentiality. Supervision is provided and you will have the opportunity to attend team meetings with other e-buddies to share good practice and enhance your skills. This volunteer opportunity is open to all students. We are keen to recruit students from underrepresented groups. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you an application pack. Successful applicants will be invited to attend a short interview to discuss the post. Deadline for the application is Friday 31st of May.
Staff and students are invited to take part in ‘Hedgehog Friendly Campus’ – a national accreditation scheme, funded by the British Hedgehog Preservation Society, which aims to make campuses a safer place for wild hedgehogs. Lancaster is the second university to be joining the scheme, following its launch at the University of Sheffield in 2018. Examples include fundraising, attending wildlife courses, surveying campuses for hedgehogs, making physical changes to the land and raising awareness. Join the community on Facebook and Twitter.
