It’s time for some pillow talk.
No, not that kind.
I mean actual talk about pillows and cushions and all things decorative. After all, for most of you this is your first time away from home and my biggest piece of advice for moving on campus is to put that effort in to make it a home away from home. The vibes of your room can impact your whole mood. Creating a space that suits you and one where you enjoy to spend your time will make that transition from home a million times easier, and you don’t have to spend a whole lot to achieve it!
Think pictures, posters, fabrics, childhood teddies and anything else that reminds you of home. My rooms in Lancaster are always filled with hundreds of pictures of everyone I love and it might be nice to know that as I moved into second year a lot of those pictures included the new friends and adventures from my first year!
It always helps to make your room feel warm and cosy, it’s the one space you have that is truly yours and where you can escape from the volumes in the kitchen and the hustle and bustle of campus. A place where you can feel calm is also helpful when you need to study for those assignments and exams!
Include your personality and your interests.
Most of all, have fun with it! But don’t forget to check the rules on what you can and can’t have in your rooms or on your walls!
We can’t wait to see what you decide to do!
See you soon,
