Bev’s Hills – Week 15

It’s a long one, so bare with me.

Seeing as it’s 15 Hour week… One day at the bar there was a blackout. Good thing I had a light beer.

Hope everyone enjoyed Big Night Out last week. Great to see the Furness massive out in full force and representing. You should be suitably recovered by now, because there’s loads to get involved in this week…

Socials

It’s what everyone’s been talking about: our renowned 15 Hour Bar Crawl is back with a-vengeance… The socials team have worked their little cotton socks off putting together our best route yet with ridiculously good deals on offer. T-shirts have been ordered and will be here soon. Keep an eye on the Facebook event for all the info.

The We <3 Trev Wednesday’s Pub Quiz is back after another great turnout last Tuesday. It’s a Valentine’s Day special, so splash out and bring your nearest and dearest down for a romance-filled evening. If you really loved them, you would.

Welfare

A massive thanks to everyone who showed their support at Love, Sex & Everything In-Between. An enjoyable and informative evening was had by all. A special thanks to the bands and musicians who performed for us.

As it’s the week of the 15 hour bar crawl, we are holding special Easy Tiger drop in hours to highlight the problems that drinking can cause and that everything should be done in moderation. If you or anyone you know have any problems or worries about themselves in relation to alcohol/drug abuse then please feel free to come down for a chat.

– Mike Gill (Welfare and Campaigns Officer) – Monday, 1-3pm

– Renata Miteva (International Experience Officer – Tuesday, 11am-12pm

– Lauren Hartshorn (Welfare & Campaigns Officer) – Thursday, 10am-12pm

– Sham Savania (Education & Opportunities Officer) – Thursday, 11am-1pm

As always, feel free to send our gorgeous welfare team an email, and they promise to get back to you within 24 hours – [email protected]

Sport

It was another successful week for Team Furness. A big thanks to all those supported at our first Carter Shield event of the term, with Furness finishing third in the Ultimate Frisbee. A big win for the Netball A’s who beat Grizedale 35 – 20 and a hard fought victory for the Pool B’s too. Well done guys!

Patriots preparations are in full swing with the event officially kicking off on Friday in Week 7. We’re hoping that lots of you will get involved as the mighty Furness attempt to reclaim what is rightfully ours. More information coming very soon!

Careers

The Careers team will be in our College Foyer  on Tuesday 11th February between 10.00am and 12.00noon to answer all of your questions about the Lancaster Award. No query is too big or small: Are you unsure about eligibility? Would you like to get involved but have never known how to go about it? Are you part way through and have questions?

This is your chance to come and ask your questions at the Careers drop-in held in your college.

And that’s that…

The socials team would love your feedback on past events and ideas for future socials. It’s all anonymous, so be as nasty as you want. Tom has a lot of fun trawling through the jokes and abuse to find genuine feedback, so keep it coming. You’ll find the form on our Contact page. Right, going to reward myself with a blueberry muffin.

Stay classy,

Adam
