Bev’s Hills – Week 11

Hello, hello, hello!

It’s a new year, a new term and a brand new JCR! Therefore, it seems fitting to do a few introductions…

… If you want to know more about each of us, feel free to look on the ‘people’ section of the website and you’ll find each new JCR member with a personal paragraph about us and our roles.

Welfare drop-in sessions are back up and running from this week onwards, so if something’s on your mind or maybe you just want to pop in and have a chat – you can see Becca from 4-6pm on Tuesdays in the JCR office, Charlie from 11am-1pm on Fridays in Trev, and Isabella from 10am-11am on Wednesdays in Trev.

This term is going to be a BIG one, sports-wise, since both the Carter Shield and Patriots will be taking place – all of this is going to kick off with refresher sports trials (you may have seen Facebook events floating around – feel free to click ‘join’ and come along for a go!) and taster sessions!

Netball trials are being held this week on Wednesday from 12:45 at the netball courts; Women’s pool trials are being held TOMORROW 2pm-4pm in Trev – also to be announced are football trials and bar sports trials will follow next week, so keep an eye out on the Furness Facebook page and feel free to ask either Harry or Laurence for any details!

Let’s get behind Furness this year and really show both Cartmel and the rest of the university’s colleges that we are a force to be reckoned with – get hashtagging #TeamFurness and you might appear in the upcoming edition of Furst!

We have a position open!

How passionate are you about Furness? And about its socials and events? How would you like to organise college-wide events like Extrav, Winter Ball, 15 Hour Bar Crawls, Karaoke Nights?

NOW IS YOUR TIME TO SHINE!

That’s right – it’s co-option time! Starting Monday at 6pm and ending at the same time on Friday, you can nominate yourself as a candidate for VP Socials and Events Co-ordinator – a position that will allow you to assist with all of the above alongside our fabulous Social Secs, Isabella and Qas.

If you want to nominate yourself – and honestly, we’d recommend it – email Nick at [email protected] and we’d also urge you to go see him in Trev between 1pm and 4pm this Wednesday coming, where he can answer any questions and queries you might have about the role.

May the odds be ever in your favour.

And that is our first Bev’s Hills of our JCR careers over! To maintain tradition, we’ll finish with a joke…

“What do you get when you cross a joke with a rhetorical question?”

… Until next week, Furness!
