Enterprise Week is fast approaching on the 11th of March – watch this space so that you don’t miss out!

Last week’s bar sports saw Dominoes win 2-1 against Fylde, but a loss in Men’s Pool. Men’s Darts won 6-3 against Fylde. But, Women’s Darts won 7-0 and Women’s Pool won 6-3, both against Fylde. Football Bs lost 5-2 against Grad, and Netball As lost to Lonnie 14-28 and lost 14-33 to Fylde.

This Week:

Tuesday: Netball As vs Cartmel at 7pm

Wednesday: Football As vs Fylde at 2pm, Netball Bs vs Cartmel at 3pm

Friday: Mighty Mountains vs Red Rebels at 6pm

Trev Quiz

This week’s Trev Quiz is being hosted by Furness’ 2019 Charity Challenge Team! Head down to Trev for 7:30pm on Thursday to take part and help them raise money for Lancaster and Morecambe Deaf Children’s Society! Click ‘going’ on the event for a reminder!

Furness Accommodation

Please remember that noise levels are expected to be reasonable at all times, but especially from 11pm to 8am it must be kept to the confines of the bedroom so nobody outside of the room can hear. Noise complaints should be reported to the Porter at the time so they can investigate and rectify if necessary.

Charity Challenge 2019 Movie Night 

Don’t forget to support the 2019 Charity Challenge Team at their movie night! Doors open at 7pm, and entry is £1. All proceeds will be donated to Lancaster and Morecambe Deaf Children’s Society.

In last week’s bar sports, Dominoes lost 2-1, Men’s Bs Pool won 6-3, Women’s Darts won 7-0 and Women’s Pool won 5-4 against Bowland. Table tennis won 18-3 against Bowland.

And, Netball As won 29-22 to Grad, and won 36-34 against Bowland, and Netball Bs lost 36-4. Trev’s Army lost to Bowland 23-6 and to Grizedale 21-7. Football As drew 1-1 with Pendle, B Team football lost 3-1.

Tuesday: Netball As vs Lonnie at 6pm, Bar Sports at 7pm vs Fylde, Netball Bs vs Grad at 9pm

Trev’s Times – WEEK FIFTEEN

Why hello there, Furness. Welcome to week fifteen. We’re going to keep very calm and not think about how fast this term is going…oh Jesus. Anyway, we’ve got a lot for you to look forward to this week. Seriously, it’s a lot.

 

15 HOUR

This Saturday, your fave bar crawl is back, and better than ever! This time, the theme for the 15 Hour Bar Crawl is…Monopoly! That’s right, we’re going to be making our way round Lancaster like it’s a Monopoly board, with drink deals, interactive extras and the cheapest tickets to date! Tickets will be sold on Thursday in the TV room from 1pm – 6pm. They’ll be £6 (!!!) and that includes drink deals, your 15 t-shirt and entry fees. Keep an eye on the event page for all updates, including info on drink deals. We can’t wait!!

 

TREVAOKE

This Wednesday, we’re bringing back every Furnessian’s fave karaoke session – Trevaoke! Bring your friends to Trev and sing your heart out to some beloved tunes! 7:30pm in the JCR room.

 

Self Love & Self Care Night!

 

Don’t get lost in the fog of Valentine’s Day – it’s important to love yourself, too! Take care of yourself and pop down to the TV room on Tuesday night at 6pm for face masks, fruit and more! You deserve it!

 

SPORT

Last week Bar Sports went up against County! Men’s darts lost 6-3, men’s A pool lost 5-4 and B’s lost 6-3. Women’s pool won 6-3 (keep up, lads!) and women’s darts was cancelled. Doms won 2-1!

Table Tennis beat County 13-6!

In Netball, all A’s games were cancelled, but B’s lost to Fylde 6-36. The Mighty Mountains lost to Enchantresses (Pendle) 4-15.

In football, the B’s drew with Fylde 1-1.

Next week, Bar sports and Table Tennis go up against Bowland!

Deputy Senior Advisor

Lesley English, Faculty Librarian, has been appointed as the new Deputy Senior Advisor.  We would like to congratulate Lesley on her appointment and look forward to working with her in the College.

 

Feel Good Friday!

All are welcome at the Feel Good Friday event on the 15th February, organised by the Natural Healthcare Centre. There will free tasters, vouchers, information and stalls, and relaxation in the form of acupuncture, aromatherapy and much more! Fylde Common Room, 12pm-3pm.

SAVE THE DATE: The second 15 Hour Bar Crawl has been announced and is rapidly approaching! The end of Week 14 will see the implementation of a Suggestions Box in the Furness Mailroom. This box is for suggestions for the JCR,  any ideas for events or event themes and NON-URGENT* welfare matters.

Last week’s sports we saw the Men’s Pool A Team win 5-4, and Bs won 7-2. Men’s As Darts lost 6-3 and Men’s Bs Darts won 9-0. Women’s Pool won 6-3, and Women’s Darts won 5-2. Dominoes won 2-1. Table Tennis won 17-6. All against Lonnie!! Meanwhile… Football As and Netball were cancelled due to poor weather.

Bailrigg FM Request Hour

Bailrigg FM are offering the students of Furness a request hour every SUNDAY at 4pm!

Earn a £10 Amazon Voucher for taking part in a 90-minute focus group on your experience of Lancaster University

The University and Lancaster University Students’ Union would like to hear from a range of different UK undergraduate student groups:

•           LGBTQ+ students
•           Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic students
•           Students from a BTEC background
•           Disabled students
•           Care experienced students
•           White males from low socio-economic backgrounds (typically in receipt of a bursary)
•           Mature students

Looking for housemates to live with 2019/20?

Why not come along to a Housing Workshop run by the Transitions Team on Tuesday 5thFebruary, 12.00pm until 1.30pm in Fylde Common Room. The workshop is an opportunity to meet other students who are looking to live off campus next academic year and find people who have similar interests and expectations of shared living. At the workshop, there will also be a short presentation from Lancaster University Homes. Places are limited so to book please email transitions@lancaster.ac.uk
