Back again for week 14 folks! Hope you lovely Furnessians are all well. Valentines day is fast approaching, and pancake day, but most importantly the 15 Hour! I know what I’ll be spending my student loan on (pancake mix). Anyway, got a lot of stuff coming up for you guys in the next couple of weeks.
15 Hour Bar Crawl
Furness’ favourite bar crawl is back, and once again, it’s 15 hours! Keep Saturday 17th February open (week 5) and watch this space for all info, including this term’s theme and ticket sales. Coming soon!
Your plans for Valentines day have been made! Furness is joining County College on the 14th for the Cuff Me Up Challenge! Lancaster’s own Drag Queen ‘Candy Cain’ will cuff up 15 new couples to compete in a series of challenges across County bar and Lancaster’s gay bar ‘D2bar’. Win free drinks and entry to D2 and the Sugarhouse (if you manage to stay cuffed, that is!) Want to get involved? Sign up at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/62JZFW9 or check out the event page
Healthy Living Breakfast
On Friday, our Welfare team have organised a healthy living breakfast, so you guys can come down, switch your Coco pops for some free healthy food, and ask all your welfare questions. Also, one of our sports officers – Tom, will be joining us to give all kinds of advice on exercise, sports, and generally keeping fit. Furness Foyer, 11am – 2pm.
And speaking of sports…
For all your sports info, check out the Furness Sport page!
Bring your knowledge of witchcraft and wizardry down to weekly Furness quiz on Wednesday! 7:30pm in Trevor Bar, £1 to play. This week’s specialist topic is Harry Potter!
Just a reminder that we are recruiting for this year’s Extrav Committee! After the sell-out success of last year’s Mardi Gras Extrav, don’t miss out on having a part in organising another unforgettable end-of-year celebration! If you are interested in signing up, or simply want more information, message the Furness College page. Deadline for signing up is Friday 16th February (week 5)
Staff Union Strikes
For those who aren’t aware, a union that represents many members of staff at Lancaster University has called on its members to strike for 14 days. This may disrupt your timetable. Though your department will provide information, you can find out more on the strike and how it affects you here, and can email your questions and concerns to firstname.lastname@example.org
And that’s all! There’s a lot to get excited for in the next few weeks, hope to see you guys there. Either way, have a great week! Until next time, folks!
