How the College Works

Structure and Governance

Junior Common Room (JCR)

Furness JCR Exec is made up of a group of students elected by students.  They are here to represent student views, organise socials, campaigns and provide opportunities for students to get involved in events and activities taking place in the College.  They work closely with College Officers to ensure students have the best experience during their time in Furness College.

The JCR meet regularly as a team and their meeting minutes are available to view here.

The President and Vice-Presidents also attend meetings with College Officers and are part of the College Management Team which meets 1-2 times a term to review and discuss the day to day running of the College.

Senior Common Room (SCR)

The SCR is made up of members of University staff who are also members of Furness College.  Some Senior members have a role in managing the College and form an integral part of College life by working closely with the JCR Exec and by contributing towards the intellectual and social experience of our students.  More about our College Staff can be found here.
