Bev’s Hills – Week 9

Sorry for the delay in getting Bev’s Hills to you this week, just been so busy! Like, I planned to find my watch today, but just couldn’t find the time. No but seriously, sorry. We’ve got two weeks left ’til Crimbo! Here’s what’s coming up…

Winter Ball Tickets

Tuesday is your last chance to pay the rest of your ticket money if you haven’t done already. We’ve got quite a long waiting list for tickets this year. If you don’t manage to cough up on time (without a decent excuse), we’ll have to give up your ticket to someone else. So get it done! We’ll be in Trev from 11.00am until 4.30pm.

Winter Ball

Just a heads up for all you people who take 4 hours to get ready… We’ll be meeting in Trev just after 5pm so we can all walk up to the bus together around half five. We’re expecting to sit down and eat at around 8.00pm. We’ll be leaving the Netherwood at approx. 1.00am, dropping off both on and off campus.

Ale Festival

“He was a wise man who invented beer.” – Plato

We all know it’s true! So if you need a break from coursework or revision, come down to our annual Ale Festival to sample some of the 30 varieties of ale/cider on offer!  There’s gonna be live music, stand-up comedy, casino games and a quiz. This four day event is not to be missed! Look out for the limited edition ale festival glasses for just £3 which includes a free pint of Lancaster ale! It’s happening this Thursday until Sunday.

Pub Quiz

You know the drill by now… Wednesday. Pub quiz. £1 entry per person. Cash prize for the winners. Banter galore! Specialist round is Runescape.

Carter Shield

Carter Shield is back this Sunday with Ultimate Frisbee! Everyone is welcome to come down and have a laugh – we’re all probably going to be quite bad at it, so no pressure. A good chance to get some exercise, get over your hangover and represent Furness College. We’ll be meeting in the Furness foyer at 12.15. Join the Facebook event for more details!

Congratulations to our new JCR

A wise man (I believe it may have been Kermit the Frog) once said that “all endings are beginnings.” Therefore, as one JCR’s time in office draws to a close, a new one rises to take it’s place. So we’d like to take this opportunity to say congratulations to Polly McDonnell, Rowan Taylor, Layla Fay, Nick Dearman, Sammie Caine, Becca Hall, Charlie Pepper, Isabella Ford, Qasim Younis, Heather Medley, James Andrews, Eilidh Nicol, Isabella Tra, Laurence Ansell and Harry Carter for being voted in as the next Furness JCR Exec. We couldn’t be more excited for you and wish you all the best as you lead Furness through 2015.

And that’s about it for this week.

Oh man, just realised… this is my last ever Bev’s Hills. Wow… it’s finally hitting home. Actually getting quite emotional. Please, I need a moment…

Adam, over and out xx
