IT’S WEEK TEN, OH MY GOODNESS! We’re here, we have made it all in one piece! Here’s what is happening in the final week of term…

Winter Ball

The time has come for our wonderful Winter Ball… we hope you’re all excited! Here is some information about what’s happening on Tuesday evening:

 ❄️ Buses will leave Furness at 6:30pm prompt, by the Ann Helme garage on the perimeter road – REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR TICKET AND ID!
❄️ Arrive at the Netherwood Hotel at 7pm
❄️ 3 course meal (bar available – bring cash), followed by DJ until 1am
❄️ Coaches leave 1am prompt and one of the return coaches will make a drop-off in Dalton Square
❄️ Dress code: SMART – dress to impress!

Sports

Last week we saw Football as lose 5-0 to Lonnie, Bar Sports faced Grad where Men’s Darts won 7-2, Men’s Pool lost 7-2 (both As and Bs) and Women’s Pool won 5-4 and Women’s Darts won 4-3.

This week in sports we have…

Monday: Bar Sports vs Grizedale, Netball As vs Pendle at 9pm

Wednesday: Football As vs Grizedale at 1, Netball Bs vs Pendle at 3pm

Thursday: Netball Bs vs Cartmel at 9pm

Furness College Sustainability Challenge

 This challenge is open to all students of Furness College, so get involved

  • A chance to help Lancaster University become more environmentally sustainable
  • An opportunity to win £750

    Study Smart

    If you’re feeling the pressure of studying, come and say hello to your College Wellbeing Officers in the Library Foyer between 12 and 2pm on Wednesday 12th of December. Get some tips for managing study and exam stress, along with a healthy snack.

    They are also providing a chill-out area in the Base, complete with relaxing activities, so come along with your friends and take the pressure off for a while!

Christmas Sales Day Trip to Chester & Cheshire Oaks

If you’re staying on campus over the holidays, why not head to Chester City Centre and Chesire Oaks on Saturday 29th December to make the most of the Christmas deals!

Christmas Winter Wonderland trip to South Lakes Safari Zoo

South Lakes Safari Zoo is home to over 1,000 of the rarest and most endangered animals in unique natural environments which enable you to get as close as physically possible to experience the amazing creatures with which we share our planet.

The trip is taking place on Saturday 15th December with buses from the White Cross bus stop (opposite RLI) at 9.45am and Pendle Avenue at 10am

Ticket price £20 for adults, £15 for children includes travel and entry to the Zoo, available from the online store

Trev’s Times – WEEK 9

Hey, Furness! It’s week 9, meaning it’s two weeks until we break up for CHRISTMAS!! How are we? Not too stressed I hope. Don’t worry, you’ve got this! Here’s what’s going on this week…

 

New JCR

Your new JCR has been elected! And they are:

The new JCR will take their roles after Christmas. They’ve all got lots of new ideas for the college and can’t wait to start!

 

Sports

Last week Bar Sports took on Cartmel! Men’s A team pool lost 7-2, women’s pool won 5-4, women’s darts won 4-3, men’s darts won 8-1 and doms won 3-0. This week, bar sports are up against Grad! Monday and Tuesday at 7pm.

For football, the A’s game was cancelled but the B’s beat Cartmel 5-0!

For netball, games were cancelled due to rain last week. This week, A v Bowland 6pm on Tuesday, B’s v Bowland 2pm Wednesday, A’s v County 5pm on Wednesday, Trev’s Army v GuarenTREEd Goals (County) 9pm Thursday and A’s v Cartmel 6pm Friday

 

Carter Shield

The third round of the Carter Shield is going down this week, and the game is…basketball! Message us if you’re interested in playing, or just come down to support! It’ll be in the sports hall at 12pm on Saturday!

 

Colleges Charity Challenge 2019

Whether you’re already involved in fundraising and volunteering, or looking for a good opportunity to boost your student experience and CV – take up the Colleges Charity Challenge next term and see how you can make a difference!

Winter Ball

Don’t forget the Winter Ball is next Tuesday (of week 10). Tickets have now SOLD OUT. Don’t forget to collect them from Jo Dickinson’s office. Can’t wait to see you all there – dress classy!

 

The Big Vote
